Fleet Mechanic

Mega Rentals, Inc., Wisconsin’s leader in traffic control and pavement marking, is currently seeking highly motivated employees who are ready to contribute to a culture of excellence at our Madison location as a Fleet Mechanic

As a Fleet Mechanic, it will be your responsibility to perform skilled labor in a road construction environment.  This position will work primarily in the shop and may also report off site, necessary.  Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Thoroughly inspect vehicles and related equipment to detect any malfunctions or damages.
  • Adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts, including valves, hoses, belts, and alternators.
  • Overhaul and repair gasoline and diesel powered engines, and other automotive and mechanical equipment at off-site locations and at the garage.
  • Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, exhaust, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work on vehicles, including lubrication and oil changes.
  • Fabricate and weld to repair equipment as necessary.
  • Perform vehicle body work and collision repair.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to aid in diagnostics; pick up and deliver vehicles and parts.
  • Ensure equipment and vehicles are running smoothly and are safe for operating.
  • Estimate time and cost of repairs.
  • Properly handle and safely operate all testing and repair tools.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with diesel powered engines is preferred
  • Good understanding and knowledge of using all repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery
  • Commitment to high professional ethical standards
